Le Tour de l’Abitibi is the largest international stage race for junior athletes in North America, if not the world. Le Tour de l’Abitibi consists of 27 teams of 6 athletes between the ages of 17 and 18. The tour draws regional, national, and international teams. The tour is sanctioned by the UCI and contested Tour de France style with lead vehicles and Team cars following the riders while on the road. The tour races down the Trans Canadian Highway which is closed to traffic until the race passes. This year’s tour will be held July 25th through July 30th. This will be the 40th edition of the Tour de l’Abitibi. Additional tour information and daily results can be found at the tour’s official website at: www.tourabitibi.qc.ca.
2008 ISCorp l’Abitibi Team
Eric Dobberfuhl (17) Mequon, WI Scott Rosenfield (17) Lake Forest, IL Ethan Stone (18) Urbana, IL Weston Luzadder (18) Carmel, IN Zack Stein (17) St. Charles, MO Eddie Gurney (17) Brookfield, WI
Weston is our only returning l’Abitibi veteran. Zack is the 2008 category Pro/1/2 Missouri State Road Race Champion. Although the majority of the team is young, we do have the potential for a great overall tour. Hopefully with the experience gained by this year’s team, we can return in 2009 for an even greater tour.
